Palace Arcade: Vic Park beer venue review
Take a trip back to your childhood (for those born before 2000) whilst sipping down a few craft beers at The Palace Arcade in Victoria Park, Western Australia.
One of the latest venues to liven up the Albany Hwy strip in Victoria Park, The Palace Arcade opened its doors on the 14th February 2020. After the success of the group’s first venue in Northbridge, the new beer venue better serves locals living on the opposite side of the swan river.
The Palace Arcade fills your heart with nostalgia as soon as you enter, with a full suite of arcade games from many moons ago, such as The Simpsons, Sega Rally and Daytona USA. Match this will a huge selection of craft beer on tap and in cans and you are on to a winner. They even have a full selection of spirits and some old-school game inspired cocktails.
Let’s start with the beer
As you can see above, the tap selection features some local favourites that all come in schooners rather that the beloved pint – but we’re not complaining. If you look at the menu, you’ll also see a huge selection of cans from breweries such as Otherside, Colonial, Boston Brewing and many more.
On to the retro arcade consoles
The selection is huge, including racing, an old-school Star Wars simulator, pinball machines… the list goes on. The best part? Games are $1.00 a go. That’s right, only $1.00!
The way it works is similar to other arcade machine venues in which you add money onto a Palace Arcade membership card which can then be used on games or behind the bar for food and beverages. The more you add the card in one transaction, the higher bonus you receive to spend on arcade games. If you’re not a huge drinker, you could easily enjoy a night of games and beer for about $50.
Finally the food
The menu is pretty straight forward with a focus on pizza as the main meal with a decent selection of sides. Pizza can also be purchased by the slice and is delicious. We also recommend trying the southern fried chicken, we couldn’t get enough!
Want a blast from the past playing some of your favourite arcade games from when you were younger? What are you waiting for? Head on down to The Palace Arcade in Victoria Park.
