Balmoral Hotel beer venue review

The Balmoral Hotel is a Perth icon located in Victoria Park, Western Australia. Adored by locals and visited by Perth residents far and wide, the large venue offers delicious food and fresh craft beer making it the perfect spot for a work lunch, or afternoon beers.

Located on Albany Highway just a short distance from Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant (arguably the best Mexican restaurant in Perth), the Balmoral Hotel is right in the middle of the bustling Victoria Park centre. While there may be quite a few restaurants to pick from, we recommend ordering a meal and pint from Balmoral, enjoying some of the most delicious food in the area with an emphasis on supporting local suppliers.

Inside or outside, it’s your choice

One of the biggest drawcards to the Balmoral Hotel in Victoria Park is the sheer size of the venue, with a selection of inside and outside dining areas to choose from.

At the front of the venue, there are two outdoor dining areas. On the Westminster Street side, there are smaller tables located under the balcony, whereas on the Albany Highway side there are larger seating areas for groups. There is also a large beer garden at the rear of the venue complete with its own bar, with the bar only being used during busy periods.

As for the inside, the Balmoral Hotel has large dining areas completed with unique hand-painted designs on the walls, with heaps of space to spread out and take your time while you enjoy their delicious food menu. There is also a pool table located behind the main bar if you feel like challenging your friends to a game.

More than just a pub lunch

While the Balmoral Hotel does offer a range of the classic pub meals such as a chicken parmi, the menu is quite extensive, and they usually have a few food specials running each week. For larger groups, there’s also a range of share options and light meals which can be ordered and shared as you enjoy a few pints of your favourite craft beer.

The meals are restaurant quality if not better. We’ve enjoyed many-a-meal here and are yet to leave disappointed. The main meal portions are generous and made fresh, with options suitable to the more fussy eaters as well.

What’s on tap?

The Balmoral Hotel strikes a happy balance between more mainstream beers and some guest taps from local breweries. When visiting, we were lucky enough to get a few pints of Rocky Ridge Ace Juicy Pale which went down an absolute treat.

While the craft beer offering may not be as sophisticated as some snobs may like, there tends to be a few options available at any given time to keep even the most critical of craft beer drinkers satisfied.
