Besk beer venue review
Besk in West Leederville is a small public bar, bottle shop and kitchen rolled into one.
The beer venue has a large open bar wrapping around the centre of the venue serving people from the main entrance around to the right area where bar and dining seating is available. To the left of the venue is a bottle shop with a great selection of craft beers so you can take your favourite local beers home.
At the front of the venue is some small tables with alfresco style seating, great for a quick pint and snack on the way home.
Now for the location.
Besk is located right on Railway Parade just across from West Leederville Station, travel to and from the venue via public transport is easy. You can’t get much better than that.
The Besk public bar
The Besk bar has a huge range of rotating craft beers on tap, all on display via Untappd on large screens as you walk up to the bar. Besk showcases a selection of beers from local breweries and international favourites – so you’ll always find something sure to satisfy.
The bar seating and standing area wraps from the front of the venue, around to the right, with some seating on the left as you first walk in. There is a combination of bar and dining seating, perfect for just grabbing a few pints or staying for a full meal.
Take home your favourites at the Besk bottle shop
To the left of the Besk venue is a full bottle shop.
The bar/bottle shop combination is quite rare from what we usually see in Perth, although it seems more beer venues and breweries are starting to offer take-home beer options.
When looking at craft beers specifically, Besk stocks a decent range of local favourites and you’ll surely find a few gems to take with you when leaving the venue. For wine, spirit and cider drinkers, you’re also sure to find one of your favourites in the vast selection of bottles.
Function hire and events at Besk
Besk has a range of function hire options available for small to medium-sized groups making use of their cellar or main bar area.
A few Beer Is OK local reviewers attended the recent SM Perth event which made us of their function hire space downstairs – you can read their venue review here. The medium-sized space could fit 50+ people comfortably (recommended with a 100 person limit) and gave a real urban, concrete style feel to the event.
So if you’re seeking that type of theme for your event, definitely consider hiring the cellar at Besk for your next function.
We did notice that the volume of chatter in the cellar area was quite high, so just be aware that it can become quite hard to hear other guests if you’re planning larger events. Alternatively, hire the upstairs bar area and spread out across the venue. Overall, a very well planned out venue and a great location for a few after work or weekend beers!
