Rocky Ridge Brewing Co brewery review
Rocky Ridge Cellar Door is a block or two back from the Busselton Jetty down by the foreshore on Marine Terrace. It is an old family home which has been refurbished, which gives it a wonderful homely feel as soon as you walk in.
The staff here are just fantastic, everyone was super enthusiastic to talk us through the beers and helped us decide where to start. Technically they are still a tasting room, so no pints or middies at this stage! 100ml tasting samples only – and you are going to be ordering quite a few of these, the beers are delicious!
Rocky Ridge has a strong focus on sourcing all their ingredients locally, ensuring their beers are fresh and environmentally sustainable. All the beers come in cans, as the aluminium helps to maintain the flavour integrity of the beers and is also the lowest cost to recycle. So your taste buds and the environment both win!
The Rocky Ridge craft beer range
There is something for everyone at Rocky Ridge! A six-paddle tasting tray is only $18 which is great value, and with 25 beers on tap, you are going to need a few trays! We started from top to bottom and worked our way through on a wintery Saturday afternoon. Plan to spend a few hours, so you can relax and enjoy the cruisy vibe.
You absolutely must try the Choc Coconut Porter, which is a yummy chocolate vanilla flavoured stout with a hint of toasted coconut thrown in. It has a very low bitterness so makes for a delicious winter tipple.
Other favourites on the day were the Juicy Pale Ale (which I recently saw on tap at The Balmoral in Vic Park), an almost sweet pale ale which you could certainly have a few pints of. The Gweilo IPA was also a winner, we had to revisit this with a few extra tastings.
Is there food available?
Rocky Ridge has teamed up with some of the best food trucks in the Margaret River region, so on any given weekend, you could have something delicious on offer! The Margaret River Burger Co was there the day we visited, and the burgers are next level! They also had chicken wings and a few other tidbits, which all went very nicely with our beers.
Kiddos and doggos are welcome
The front of the cellar door has a decking area with tables along with a large grassed area where you can sit in the sun. Or if it is raining, there are tables inside and an outside undercover area, so plenty of options if you are coming with kids or dogs. We called ahead to reserve a table that was dog friendly and undercover, as it was raining, and our Golden Retriever Izzy had a grand old time watching us drink beers and eat burgs all afternoon.
Can’t wait to visit in summer
The two times we visited were in July, so I can only imagine how epic this place is going to be on a nice afternoon in summer! Looking forward to coming back in a few months!
Need some beer for the road?
Don’t forget to bring your growler! There is a fully stocked fridge with cans to take away, or you can fill your growlers to enjoy at home.
