Shelter Brewing Co brewery review

Bar area at Shelter Brewing Co in Busselton, WA.

Shelter Brewing Co is a massive new presence on the foreshore in Busselton. You can see the Busselton Jetty from the brewery, which is just across the park. With a capacity of 650, it is built to accommodate plenty of locals and tourists alike.

There are several sections to the brewery, including a massive indoor beer hall, upstairs function rooms, outdoor seating overlooking the ocean and café serving coffees and bagels in the morning. The whole place has floor to ceiling windows, which gives it a bright, sunny vibe.

The whole place screams casual summer catch-ups with friends and family. Its 100% casual attire here, with plenty of people walking straight up from the beach. Outdoors is also pet friendly, so your pooch can get in on the session. Everything is table service, so you can sit back and wait for the drinks and food to come to you.

Craft beers from Shelter Brewing

Beer paddle showcasing four Shelter Brewing Co beers.

All the beers are brewed on-site, with the current beers on tap including:

  • Lager 4.2% – great, easy-drinking option for a Sunday session.
  • Extra Pale Ale 3.5% – a nice, slightly hoppy mid-strength option.
  • Summer Sour 4.0% – a sour for the non-sour drinkers. I am not a massive sour drinker but this one was pretty tasty with some fruity notes in there.
  • India Pale Ale 6.8% – your classic, hoppy IPA.
  • Red Ale 5.0% – my drink of choice, I could easily have sat all afternoon drinking this in the sun.
  • Cider 5.0% – cider lovers will get behind this bad boy, a thirst quencher for a hot day.

You can book in for a brewery tour and tasting to get to know more or purchase a tasting paddle.

Food selection

Menu options, food and drink, available at Shelter Brewing in Busselton, WA.

There is a woodfired pizza over churning out tasty pizzas, with plenty of your other pub favourites on the menu, including burgers and share plates. We shared the hand-cut chips and guac, but there were some other interesting things we will look at next time, including the slow-cooked beef brisket.
