Campus Brewing brewery review
Brew University has evolved to become Campus Brewing. We’ll be back to review again shortly. Below is our Brew University review from 2020.
Brew University is an exciting new brewery located in Canning Vale just south of Perth.
The brainchild of 6 avid brewers, this Canning Vale brewery decided to take a unique approach to the urban brewery set up by providing customers with the option to brew their favourite drop on-premises. The ‘brew-on-premises’ setup is located across from the general seating area of the venue which provides a unique smell and atmosphere which all beer lovers will enjoy.
The brewery layout is welcoming and spacious, with long wooden picnic tables scattered throughout the main hall. The bar and taps are positioned at the back of the venue with screens displaying your beer choices via untappd. You can also view their current beer taplist online before heading to the venue.
Learn to brew when visiting
Keeping true to their ‘university’ name, Brew U is a place where you can learn the basics of brewing, and even give brewing a go yourself. With a full ‘home brewing’ style setup, you’ll be guided through the process (1 to 2 hours) of brewing your own ~50L brew.
After brewing, you’ll need to return back after two weeks or so to bottle, can or keg your beers with the vessels purchasable from the brewery. For a small fee, you can have the Brew U team complete this process for you, so all you’ll need to do is drop past and grab your ~6 cartons of beer from the ~50L brew.
For those seeking a quicker experience, they offer a 5-10 minute ‘speed brew’ option.
Enjoy the atmosphere
Brewing not your thing?
With a huge 15 tap lineup on offer featuring a range of experimental and freshly brewed beers, stop in for a few pints and enjoy the beery atmosphere. Brew University also do keg, growler and squealer fills so you can stock up on your favourites to enjoy at home.
For a delicious sessionable beer, we recommend stocking up on the Coconut Kölsch with subtle coconut flavours that are definitely moreish. For something a bit sweeter, give their Galactose Intolerance Milkshake IPA a go with a smooth vanilla texture and sweetness. For something a bit stronger and darker, try out their Leather-Bound Books And Rich Mahogany English Strong Ale.
