Slap cup is the perfect game for larger groups. This table game offers fast-paced action where players are required to bounce a ping pong ball into a cup as fast as possible, before another player who is also bouncing a ball into their own cup catches them.
The game can get quite messy, so it’s often best to place a fold out table over a grassed area to play.
Game Type: Table
Required: 24 Cups, 2 Ping Pong Balls
To set up the game, have each player grab 3 cups and split a beer (or their beverage of choice) evenly between the cups. Then, all players place their cups in the middle of the table. For a bit of extra fun, move the cups around to make it a surprise what losers need to drink during the fast paced game.
All players then stand evenly around the circle. Give an empty cup and ping pong ball to one player. Then, give a second cup and ping pong ball to the player completely opposite the first player.
To start this game, the two players holding ping pong balls must tap the ball on the table, tap the balls together, and then tap them against the table once more. Then, the game commences.
If at any point a ball goes off the table, players can shout out “ball’s off the table” to pause the game. Once this is called, players must stop what they’re doing (including stop drinking) until both balls are back in the possession of the current players. Once the balls are back with the two players, they must start the game again by tapping the balls on the table, together, and table again.
Once the game commences, it’s very simple to play. The two players attempt to bounce the ping pong ball on the table, with the hopes of it landing in the empty cup. They continue to try until one of the two things happen:
The ball lands in the cup on the first attempt: The player can then select any other player at the table to pass the cup and ping pong ball too.
The ball lands in the cup on the 2nd or later attempt: The player must pass the cup and ping pong ball to the player directly to their left.
You can slap their cup off the table, and hand your cup and ball to the next player to your left (after the player whose cup you slapped).
The player that had their cup slapped off the table must grab a beverage from the centre of the table, skull it, then continue to play with their now empty cup.
This game continues until all cups in the middle of the table have been consumed.
